ROTC/JROTC Recognition Program

The Philadelphia Continental SAR Chapter awards ROTC medals to foster the principle of the "citizen-soldier", exemplified by the Minutemen of Revolutionary War days.  ROTC and JROTC cadets are selected for having a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing, and general excellence.  The recipients are selected by the Commanding Officer of the respective ROTC and JROTC units.

The silver ROTC medal is presented to students in college level programs, and the Bronze Medal is presented to students in secondary level programs.  Appropriate ribbon bars and certificates accompany each medal.

The Enhanced JROTC Program

The PC Chapter selects an Outstanding JROTC Cadet from those cadets submitted for consideration by the individual units.  The winner receives a Special Bronze Medal, a ribbon drape, and a ribbon bar.  Also, the winning cadet is entered in the State contest.

The nomination form and other details can be obtained from the Committee chairman or from the SAR national Website at

US Navy Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC)

Although Sea Cadets are not eligible for JROTC awards, NSCC is recognized as an outstanding program.  One eligible cadet from each unit can receive the SAR Bronze Good Citizenship Medal.  Details can be provided by the Chapter Committee Chairman
